Paramount+ has released the first trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery, which is set to premiere later this year. The video features Sonequa Martin-Green’s Captain Burnham as she leads the crew against an unknown threat that could possibly destroy all of them without any warning. This comes after the hit sci-fi series wrapped up its 13-episode third season earlier this year. Check out the video in the player below!

In addition, the streaming service has also announced a new Star Trek documentary film titled Woman in Motion: Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek and the Remaking of NASA, which tells the inspiring true story of Star Trek alum Nichelle Nichols, who was the brains behind the NASA recruiting program to hire people of color and the first female astronauts for the space agency in the late 1970s and 1980s. The docufilm will be available for streaming on June 3.

Star Trek: Discovery is about the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. In the end of the season one finale, it showed that Discovery has finally encountered the USS Enterprise.
Season 4 finds Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery facing a threat unlike any they’ve ever encountered. With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all.
The cast includes Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, Doug Jones as Saru, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, Wilson Cruz as Dr. Hugh Culber, David Ajala as Book, Blu del Barrio as Adira and Ian Alexander as Gray.

Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise serve as co-showrunners and executive produce with Heather Kadin, Jenny Lumet, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.
